Tweeddale Museum & Gallery

Tweeddale Museum and Gallery is housed in a historic building dating back to the 16th century. Permanent displays and exhibitions showcase the best of the Borders and beyond.

The Old Town House

In July 1749 the council, following in the practice of many a Royal Burgh built its very own Town House. The property is located on the south side of the High Street.

Neidpath Castle

Neidpath Castle is a rubble-built tower, overlooking the River Tweed about 1 mile west of Peebles. The castle is both a wedding venue and filming location owned by the Earl of Wemyss.

Cross Kirk

Sometime around 1296, a Trinitarian priory was funded in Peebles under the patronage of King Alexander III. The priory was raised to monastery status in 1474 but destroyed in 1549.

The John Buchan Story

Part of the ground floor of the Chambers Institution on Peebles High Street. The museum tells the story of John Buchan, writer of the Thirty-Nine Steps.

Mercat Cross

The symbolic centre of a Scottish market town is found on the traffic island at the junction of Eastgate, Northgate and the High Street.
